Fernández Institute of Taekwon-Do I.T.F. History
Master Victor Fernández is a Certified International Instructor and Chief Instructor of the Fernández
Institute Of Taekwon-Do I.T.F.
He was born on September 10, 1972. In the Dominican Republic, in the town of Monseñor Nouel, Bonao.
In 1981, he began to practice Taekwon-Do I.T.F. with professor Roque Vallejo, 2nd degree black belt
under the instructions of the Dominican Institute of Taekwon-Do I.T.F.- Puellos.
Its founders are Master Norberto Puello, 8th degree black belt and Master Socrate Puello, 7th
degree black belt.
Affiliated with the International Taekwon-Do Federation I.T.F. that was founded by General Choi Hong Hi.
1988 - Mr. Fernandez became a 1st degree black belt, at the age of sixteen.
He was tested by Master Norberto Puello, 8th degree black belt and Master Socrate Puello,
7th degree black belt in the Dominican Republic.
1989 - He attended an International seminar with General Choi Hong Hi.
In that same year, Fernandez Dominican Institute of Taekwon-Do of Bonao I.T.F. opened its doors
in the street of Francisco Villa Espesa # 46 in Dominican Republic.
He has the passion for teaching original Taekwon-Do as it was meant to be taught by founder
General Choi Hong Hi. He was also honored as best competer in fighting, patterns, and for being one of the best instructor.
1990 - He also participated in many events and seminars. Like the Marlboro Cup that was held in
the San Lazaro club. He won First place in the black belt light weight fighting competition,
and also 2nd place in black belt middle weight in fighting competition.
Mr. Fernandez was also National Champion in fighting.
August 14, 1993 - He was tested by Master Norberto Puello 8th degree black belt and Master Socrate Puello, 7th degree black belt,
for 2nd degree black belt in the Dominican Republic.
1994 - He competed in an international tournament against Puerto Rico, in the Prado club.
Were he won 2nd place in fighting.
In that same year Mr. Fernandez visited the Queen’s Taekwon-Do Center in Queens, New York.
Instructor Ruben Suarez is a black belt 4th degree and is the founder of the Queen’s Taekwon-Do Center.
Mr. Fernandez really liked the family atmosphere and the way Master Suarez taught.
It reminded him of the way his Instructors were back home. Master Suarez opened his doors to Mr. Fernandez and
allowed him to practice and be able to learn new things.
June 2, 1996 - He was tested for his 3rd degree black belt. Again by the Instructors Master Norberto Puello 8th degree black belt
and Master Socrate Puello 7th degree black belt.
April of 1997 - He visited the school of Instructor Miguel Oresa in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
1998 - In New York City, he competed in a national tournament and won 2nd place in patterns.
2000 - In the Dominican Republic, He was tested again by Master Norberto Puello 8th degree black
belt and Master Socrate Puello 7th degree black belt for his 4th degree black belt.
He also received his first d International Taekwon-Do Federation I.T.F.
International Instructor Certificate.
2001 - The Dominican Institute of Taekwon-Do I.T.F. - Puellos celebrated it's 25 years.
It was founded in June 3, 1976. It was celebrated at the Jimmy’s Bronx Café in the Bronx, New York City.
Where Master Norberto Puello honored Instructor Victor Fernandez for being one of the best instructor and best athlete.
August 15, 2004 - Was the first Congress of the History of the Dominican Republics Taekwon-Do
that took place in Manhattan, at the Mirage Restaurant, New York City.
April 2, 2005 - He went to a tournament in Connecticut that was named White Tiger I.T.F. Unity
Championship. There Mr. Fernandez won 3rd place in patterns and in fighting.
He was honored to meet great people like Grand Master Van Binh. Founder of Unified Martial Arts.
April 24, 2005 - In the Dominican Republic, Master Norberto Puello 8th degree black belt and
Master Socrate Puello 7th degree black belt tested, Mr. Fernandez for his 5th degree black belt.
August 18, 2005 - The Second Congress of the History Dominican Republics Taekwon-do.
It took place in The Seafood Restaurant in the Bronx, New York.
Were Mr. Fernandez gave a demonstration on some patterns for the all the masters that attended the congress.
February 18th 2006 - Mr. Fernandez attended a seminar the was presented by Grand Master Kwang S. Hwang, 9th degree black belt
and President of the Unified International Taekwon-do Federation I.T.F. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
January 13, 2007 - He also attended the ITF-USA referee seminar, in Queens, New York, with Master
Pete Thibado, Chairman of umpire committee ITF-USA and Master Ruben Suarez, Sr. Vice President ITF-USA.
February 16th & 17th of 2007 - He attended a Unified International Taekwon-Do Federation I.T.F.
International Referee Seminar, in Manchester, Connecticut. He also attended a Seminar on principles
of Taekwon-do that was hosted by Grand Master Kwang S. Hwang, K-9-1.
March 18, 2007 - Mr. Fernandez attended a Seminar that was hosted by Grand Master Hwang in Throgs Neck, New York.
April 29, 2007 - Instructors Fernandez attended a certified Referee course and self defense class in New York.
Victor Fernandez is a 5th degree black belt and study under Grand Master Kwang S. Hwang, 9th degree black belt.
